PFISD board ratifies personnel moves, upholds staff appeal and nominates trustee to TASB

Following a closed session on Oct. 16, the Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees returned to open session and approved several personnel actions and a governance nomination.
The board voted to ratify the appointment of an executive director for the Education Foundation; members welcomed Carl Spencer as the new executive director after the motion to ratify passed 6–0. The board also ratified the appointment of a principal at Wilham Elko Elementary (Henry Castellanos) by a unanimous vote.
Trustee Torres moved to ratify the personnel appointment for the Education Foundation executive director and Trustee Mitchell seconded; the motion carried 6–0. Trustee Torres also moved (seconded by Trustee Mitchell) to ratify the principal appointment, which passed 6–0. The board then voted to uphold the administration's decision regarding a Level 4 staff appeal; that motion carried 6–0.
Earlier in the meeting the board moved and unanimously carried a nomination of a trustee for the TASB (Texas Association of School Boards) board of directors; President Lorigo Joes made the motion and trustees voted 6–0.
