PFISD presents targeted improvement and turnaround plans for seven campuses to TEA

Pflugerville ISD administration presented Targeted Improvement Plans (TIP) and Turnaround Plans (TAP) for seven campuses on Oct. 16 as part of state compliance and the required public‑hearing process.
"This presentation provides a high level summary of the plans prior to the submission to TEA," Miss Baker told the board. She identified four TIP campuses — Dessel Elementary, Spring Hill Elementary, Pflugerville Middle School and Conley High School — and three TAP campuses — Northwest Elementary, Timmerman Elementary and Westview Middle School. The plans include strategies such as the ACE model, strategic staffing, extended learning opportunities, professional learning communities (PLCs), coaching support from an external consultant called Big Rocks, and curriculum changes at some campuses.
Miss Baker said funding for these efforts will come from school action grants and related federal/state grant programs in some cases; Conley High School will also use LASSO 3 grant funding for instructional supports. For Northwest and Westview, which have consecutive low ratings, turnaround planning includes more intensive coaching and state oversight pathways.
Trustees asked about sustainability and leadership experience. Trustee Mitchell referenced prior ACE-model success in raising Northwest from an F to a B, and asked how the district will sustain gains after grant funding ends. Trustee Daniel asked whether campus leaders had prior turnaround experience and how the district would support those leaders; Miss Baker and Dr. Shepherd said specifics on benchmarks, exit criteria and reporting cadence would be provided through Q's news and future board updates.
What happens next: The plans were placed on the consent agenda for board approval to submit to the Texas Education Agency on the required timeline.
