A congressman said the Invest Act aims to broaden investor access to private funds, lower the cost of being a public company and encourage more firms to go public.
"Over 300 members in the house voted for Invest," the Congressman said, adding that of the bill''s 22 major provisions, 19 have bipartisan support in the Senate. He described the bill as a priority for both chambers through the end of the year.
Among the provisions the guest highlighted is a change to the accredited investor rule, updating a standard last revised in 1982 to allow individuals to qualify based on professional expertise rather than net worth. Supporters say the change would open private placements to more individual investors and help capital formation nationwide.
The interview framed Invest as part of a broader agenda to increase public-company listings and boost capital formation outside coastal hubs; no Senate action was recorded in the interview and timing of Senate consideration was described as a priority through the remainder of the congressional session.
