County presents plan to rebuild dangerous CSAH 3/36/CR 103 intersection; Crosslake wants cost details

Crow Wing County staff outlined plans for a major reconstruction of the CSAH 3/CSAH 36/CR 103 intersection during the Crosslake City Council meeting on June 8.
Daria Graupman, Crow Wing County staff engineer, told the council the project is intended to improve safety after numerous fatal accidents at the intersection. Graupman said the county is considering detour routes that would route local traffic onto Antler Road and Gendreau Road and use County Roads 11, 16, and 39 for commercial traffic during construction. Estimated construction is 8–12 weeks in the summer of 2028.
Council members said they were not prepared to adopt a supporting resolution included in the meeting packet until the county provides more information about cost-sharing and funding sources. Mayor Jackson Purfeerst and other council members asked staff to return with additional fiscal details before the council takes a formal position.
A county public information meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 13, at 5 p.m. at Crosslake City Hall, Graupman said. The county presentation and the council’s request for detailed funding information leave the timeline for council endorsement open; no formal council motion adopting support was recorded at the June 8 meeting.
Next steps: county staff will provide project cost estimates and proposed cost‑share terms for council review ahead of the public information meeting and any formal council action.
