The board voted to require that, beginning July 1, 2026, meeting agendas be posted at least one full business day prior to the meeting and be visible for 24 hours. The board specified three locations for postings: the bulletin board in the hallway of the Tama County Administration Building, the glass exterior door on the south side of the administration building, and the county website (tamacountyiowa.gov) under the supervisors department. Supervisor David Turner moved the resolution; Supervisor Curt Kupka seconded it and the roll-call vote recorded all ayes.
The measure implements recent amendments to Iowa’s Open Meetings statute that add requirements for conspicuous, time‑bound public posting. The resolution also references the county’s Ordinance #V.14 (Tama County Board of Supervisors Meeting Rules) and directs that at the board’s January 4, 2027 organizational meeting the board set the posting locations for the following year.
Board members said the change was procedural and intended to ensure compliance and transparency under the new statutory timeline. No dissenting votes were recorded. The resolution was signed by Mark Doland, chairman at the time of the vote, and Karen Rohrs, Tama County Auditor.
The board’s action sets the administrative requirements for posting but does not change other notification practices such as email notices or agenda distribution to media and interested parties.
