County engineer reports $1.4 million bridge grant; Board approves FY27 secondary road plans

Adam Miller, Floyd County’s engineer, reported several ongoing secondary roads activities and informed the Board the county had been awarded $1,404,104 through the Competitive Highway Bridge Program.
Miller said crews are working on culvert sections, blading roads, stump removal on B45/Hwy 14 and ditch regrading. He said staff are reviewing fuel management at shops, seeking bids for a trailer to haul pipe and equipment, and that CVTC’s new generator is operational. Miller also listed active work including construction design projects, a FY26 budget amendment, a proposed 130th Street road vacation, sign policy review, planning monthly KCHA radio interviews and review of a RAISE grant funding agreement.
Earlier in the meeting the Board approved the FY27 Iowa Department of Transportation Secondary Road Budget and the FY27 Secondary Road Five‑Year Program by motion (Campbell/Rottinghaus); both motions carried 3‑0.
