West Bend-Mallard board transfers $11,054 to student activity fund, approves free breakfast for all students

The West Bend-Mallard Community School District Board of Directors voted on July 8, 2025, in Gilmore City to transfer $11,054.30 from the district general fund to the student activity fund to purchase protective and safety equipment for extracurricular interscholastic athletics.
Director Dave Bruellman introduced the resolution and Director Chris Montag seconded; the board recorded AYES from John Zaugg, Dave Bruellman, Chris Montag and Lisa Traub and declared the resolution adopted. Board Secretary Crystal Eggers attested the action.
At the same meeting the board approved a package of routine, back-to-school actions. The board approved the 2025–26 school fees with no changes from the prior year after a motion by Lisa Traub, approved changes to the staff handbook and the Student & Activity handbook (motions by Bruellman and Traub, respectively), and approved paid coaching position changes as presented. The board also approved hiring a civil engineering firm listed in the minutes as "Kruse, Cate, & Nelscon PC." The motion to hire that firm was moved by Dave Bruellman and seconded by Lisa Traub.
Directors approved two personnel contract actions: hiring Brian Bormann as Transportation Director and Adrianna Adamson as a para-professional; both motions were moved by Dave Bruellman and seconded by Chris Montag. The board approved resignations of Paul Peppmeier as Middle School softball coach and Tyson Wirtz as assistant middle school softball and baseball coach; the board accepted those resignations by motion of Lisa Traub.
The board approved free breakfast for all students for the 2025–26 school year and left other meal prices unchanged; Chris Montag moved the motion and Dave Bruellman seconded. Financial reports, the consent agenda (which included minutes, warrants, open enrollments, several fundraisers and second readings of multiple board policies), and other routine items were also approved by vote.
The meeting was called to order by President John Zaugg and adjourned at 8:36 p.m.
