Chairman Cris reported 10 people registered for a Softball Umpire Clinic (one snow date), with eight attending; new umpires are expected to shadow six games when the season opens. A Tai Chi winter session that began Jan. 20 had five registrants. An adult karate class scheduled to start Jan. 26 was cancelled because no one registered.
Cris also reported the Senior Luncheon on Jan. 30 drew 78 seniors for an Italian dinner; meeting minutes list total food costs of $600. A Winter Paint Party on Feb. 11 charged $20 per person and had 12 participants who completed paintings. The commission noted a free community skating event tied to school vacation will be held Feb. 25 at Haverhill Veterans Memorial Skating Rink; five people had registered at the time of the meeting.
Commissioners discussed program logistics and next steps for volunteer shadowing, staffing and outreach to boost registration for planned classes.
