Policy committee recommends standard updates, adoption of NJSBA sample policy and scheduling of first readings

On policy 6163.1, Ben said the committee replaced the district’s existing policy with the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) sample policy after finding the sample better matched recent regulatory changes. He said several updated policies will go to first reading before coming back to the board for further consideration.
Why it matters: These procedural updates bring district policy language into alignment with state standards and outside sample policies; the committee noted the updates are largely technical but will require board readings and future votes.
Next steps: committee members said they will present policy 6163.1 and other updated policies for first reading and asked board members to reach out with questions before the next scheduled review on July 20.
