Council appoints planning liaison, approves Sherman Street change order and keeps two maturing investments

The Caro City Council appointed Councilor Emily Campbell to the Planning Commission liaison seat, approved Change Order No.1 on Sherman Street, scheduled an open house for Van Geisen Road property, and retained two maturing investments at Independent Bank and Northstar Bank.
At its June 1 meeting the Caro City Council handled several administrative and project actions.
Council appointed Councilor Emily Campbell as the council liaison to the Planning Commission, replacing Councilor John Riley, to serve the remainder of his term until November 2026 (motion 26-M-115).
The council approved Change Order No. 1 for the Sherman Street Rehabilitation project (26-M-116). Council also scheduled an open house for the Van Geisen Road property on June 15, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. by motion (26-M-117).
On maturing investments, the council directed staff to keep a certificate of deposit at Independent Bank for $263,392.39 for one year at 3.75% (26-M-118) and to keep a CDARS account at Northstar Bank for $543,202.87 for 52 weeks at 3.60% (26-M-119). Both investment decisions were approved by council motion.
During additional public comment, residents praised local events and public works: Mike Carpenter thanked volunteers for a Bieth Park event; Vicky Brown thanked DPW staff for tree cleanup and planting; Mark Putman urged enforcement action regarding a service drive near several retail sites. Randy Heckroth publicly thanked council for approving the budget. The meeting adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
