Radford council approves appropriations including $225,000 Glencoe restoration grant and firefighting equipment funding

Council amended DMV-based staff bonus appropriations by $150,893 and reallocated those funds across department personnel accounts. Library state aid was adjusted upward by $4,084 after final award notices. The council accepted a $225,000 Paul Bruhn historic revitalization grant to fund repairs and accessibility work at Glencoe Mansion. Finally, $47,550 in state firefighting equipment aid was appropriated for replacement hoses, nozzles and positive-pressure fans.
Council heard that the fire equipment purchases were vetted with department leadership and that hoses and related items are needed. After adopting the ordinances, council voted to dispense with a second reading.
The motions were approved by voice vote; staff will proceed with grant administration and equipment procurement.
