Brown Edwards reports partial completion of Radford forensic audit, offers 26 recommendations so far

John Aldridge, representing Brown Edwards and Company, briefed the council on the forensic audit the firm is performing for the city. Aldridge said the audit scope covers 28 areas spanning several years; to date Brown Edwards has completed seven review tasks and identified about 26 recommendations for operational improvements.
"So to date, we have finished 7 of those 28 tasks... I think we have right at 26 recommendations already of things that you can do better," Aldridge said. He told council the firm has met with staff on the finished items and planned to fine‑tune findings before public release. Aldridge said the remaining 21 items are in process and that staff has been cooperative in providing requested documentation.
Council asked whether the seven completed items and recommendations could be released before the entire audit is done; Aldridge agreed that Brown Edwards could provide the completed sections for public distribution and the firm tentatively aimed to have additional work wrapped up in coming months.
Mayor David Horton and council members thanked staff for responsiveness and discussed transparency about recommendations once staff has digested findings.
Next steps: Brown Edwards will continue reviewing outstanding areas, produce final reports and work with staff on a communication strategy for releasing completed recommendations to the public.
