Radford council approves $903,078 school budget amendment; no city funds required

Adam Joyce, speaking for the school system, told council the adjustment reflects updated state funding based on the end-of-March average daily membership, and additional grants that arrived after the fiscal year began. “It’s no city money,” Joyce said, explaining the amendment reallocates and recognizes funds that district staff recalculated and must request council to appropriate.
The mayor noted a formal public hearing was not required because the amendment did not exceed 1 percent of the total original city budget appropriation. Council approved the amendment by voice vote.
Council directed staff to continue transparent reporting; no additional city general fund appropriation was required for this amendment.
