Council forms zoning‑ordinance committee and approves Chesleys' pool‑house permit

The Clifton Town Council voted on Feb. 7 to create a temporary committee to draft recommendations for proposed zoning ordinance changes and to update related application forms and fees.
Dwayne Nitz moved to form the committee and appoint Kathy Kalinowski, Mac Arnold, Chuck Rusnak and Steve Effros; Bill Hollaway seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved. The committee will choose its own chair and proceed with recommendations intended to align ordinance language with the Town Plan.
Kathy Kalinowski, reporting for the Planning Commission, said the zoning‑change project had been underway for about a year and involves two main goals: revising application forms and fees, and incorporating necessary changes into the Zoning Ordinance that resulted from the Town Plan.
Separately, the Council approved a Use Permit for the addition of a pool house requested by Jim and Jennifer Chesley after the Planning Commission recommended approval; the motion was made by Wayne Nickum, seconded by Chuck Rusnak, and carried unanimously.
Next steps: the temporary committee will meet to draft recommendations and select a chair; the planning commission and council will consider proposed ordinance language and fee changes in subsequent meetings.
