Winfield council hears police and wastewater reports, approves multiple BZA appointments

Chief of Police Jeff Losh told the council there were 140 calls for service during the reporting period and reported no departmental issues.
On wastewater matters Mayor Randy Barrett reported that Clay Riley of engineering firm Thrasher attended a sanitary meeting and agreed to replace the cake pump and install a new pipe; the mayor said Thrasher will provide materials, labor and a warranty. Town employee Ritchie Ferguson said Precision Pump repaired one blower. The minutes note that wastewater operator Stevie Short passed the Wastewater Operator I course and needs additional hours before full certification.
The council approved multiple appointments and renewals to the Board of Zoning Appeals. Scott Morris moved to add Robert Flynn; Kevin Karnes moved to add Jessie Sigmon; Joe Rumbaugh moved to renew Derek Jones; Kevin Karnes moved to add Dale Vance; Ryan Powers moved to renew Dale Harper and appoint him as chairman; and Ryan Powers moved to add Jami Sprigle. The minutes record those motions were carried.
Mayor Randy Barrett also expressed appreciation to resident Joey Tolley for repairing a veteran’s gas line at no cost so the resident could regain heat. With no further business the council adjourned at 6:54 p.m. on a motion by Dana Campbell.
