Udall council tables code and water-plan reviews, approves utility contracting authority and clerk training decision

Old-business discussion included an email (dated Jan. 6, 2025) reporting that repairs at the vacant property at 213 N Clark are scheduled to begin in February; the council asked the clerk to verify with the city attorney that the letter is acceptable and voted to table further action until the February council meeting (motion by Randy Hoffman; second by Jim Caywood). The council also received updated city uniform codes and voted to table them pending the clerk’s collection of related ordinances and minutes for review at a subsequent meeting (motion by Jim Caywood; second by Craig Hopkins). The annual review of Ordinance 694, the Emergency Water Supply Plan, was likewise tabled to the February 2025 meeting (motion by Jim Caywood; second by David Franz).
On utilities, the council discussed a utility-relocation phase and granted the mayor authority to enter into a contract with the engineer selected by staff (motion by Randy Hoffman; second by Jim Caywood). The motion passed with all ayes. The council instructed the clerk to contact surrounding cities to obtain current pay-scale information for comparison.
In staff reports, maintenance staff said 18 to 20 cemetery headstones have been repaired; Councilmember Craig Hopkins expressed appreciation. The council agreed the Stewart Addition sign should remain posted. Office business included a discussion of the 2025 CCMFOA Spring Conference for an employee named Shayla and whether she could complete remaining CMC hours online through Washington State University; the council authorized Mayor McAllister to make the final decision on Shayla’s attendance (motion by Randy Hoffman; second by Craig Hopkins). The meeting adjourned at 8:26 p.m.
