Council awards 2026 pavement, paving and line-painting bids; paving came in under estimate

Council approved three 2026 public-works contract awards at its July 15 meeting after Public Works reported bid results for recurring pavement maintenance and related work.
Scott, the Public Works presenter, listed the low bids: Russell Standard for seal coating at $132,183.05; Glenel Hallbaker for paving at $350,016.85 (Scott said that paving bid came in approximately $72,000 under the original estimate); and a line- and parking-lot painting contract at $61,880.90. Council members asked how many responses were received; Scott said the number of bidders varied by item (three bids for seal coating, one bid for paving and one for pavement work in that package).
Council moved and approved each award by voice vote. Members discussed following state specifications for seal coating and ensuring eligibility for liquid-fuel funding on certain items. The council thanked the crews for work following recent storms and accepted staff's recommendations.
