Parks Director Lina Hicks (speaker 3) explained the resolution breaks down the previously authorized funds as $8,500 for barriers lining the parade route, $2,500 to cover overtime for six additional city staff, and $4,000 to be allocated to the Chamber of Commerce for hiring security and event staff. Hicks said these funds had been authorized by council at a prior meeting and that the resolution simply clarifies the distribution.
Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution without recorded opposition. The resolution authorizes the mayor to execute the amendment and allows staff and the Chamber to implement security and staffing plans for the July 4 events.
