The Valley School District Board on Aug. 21 accepted letters of resignation from three employees and approved hiring recommendations for several open positions.
Superintendent Dr. Mandi Rehn presented resignations from Taylor Holden (VS/PHS school counselor), May Selanders (VS paraeducator) and Gloria Johnson (VELC head cook) and recommended accepting them. Paul Voelker moved to accept the resignations; the board carried the motion and the minutes record the board’s thanks for the employees’ service.
Dr. Rehn also presented a notice of contract expiration for groundskeeper Denise Smith; Nancy Cocroft moved to approve the notice and the motion carried.
On hiring, the board approved multiple recommended hires: Kristine Hendrickson and Kara Marbury as CVA elementary teachers; Amber Santilli as CVA ELA middle-school teacher; Caleb Swearingen as middle-school football coach; Beth Gilmer as VELC head cook; John Steinbach as part-time VL transport bus mechanic and bus driver/van route; and Katie Park as VS paraeducator/library specialist. Paul Voelker moved to approve the hires and Nancy seconded; the motion carried.
The minutes record the personnel actions as motions that carried; no roll-call vote tallies are included in the meeting minutes. Appointments are to be finalized through standard onboarding and contract processes in the superintendent’s office.
