Udall USD 463 board approves exceeding revenue neutral rate for 2024-25

Udall Unified School District 463 Board of Education on Sept. 9, 2024, voted unanimously to approve Resolution 9-1-2024 to exceed the revenue neutral tax rate for the 2024-25 school year. The hearing was called to order at 5:30 p.m. in the district office board room by Board President Chris Holmes.

District resident George Cash used the public-comment period to raise concerns about the effect of property taxes on his household and attended the hearing to learn more about the budget. President Chris Holmes asked Superintendent Heidi Perkins to explain the meeting’s purpose. Perkins said the RNR hearing exists to inform the public that the board is proposing to exceed the revenue neutral rate and to provide a public forum for comment.

Before the board took action, Board Member Scott Eilers moved to adopt the meeting agenda; Rebecca Mason seconded and the agenda motion passed 5-0. Adrianne King joined the meeting at about 5:35 p.m., and the board then considered the resolution to exceed the revenue neutral rate. Eilers moved to approve Resolution 9-1-2024; Clayton Bishop seconded. A roll-call vote recorded Rebecca Mason, Scott Eilers, Clayton Bishop, Andrea Ahlerich, Adrianne King and Chris Holmes voting yes, and the motion was approved 6-0.

The board adjourned the hearing at 5:45 p.m. The minutes on file note these are unofficial minutes and will be approved or corrected at the board’s next regular meeting.

Actions taken at the hearing were limited to approval of the resolution to exceed the revenue neutral rate; no dollar amounts, tax-rate figures or further budget details were specified in the minutes.
