The Fire Chief (speaker S9) said the 2018 agreement established automatic dispatching across municipalities and provides benefits including joint response, shared training, joint purchasing, and improved eligibility for some grants. The updated agreement would allow Greenleaf, Morrison and Wrightstown to join, formalizing collaboration and helping participating entities meet response and staffing standards under NFPA 1710 (the national standard cited by staff for structural-fire response staffing and arrival times).
"The agreement allows other departments to help us and also us to help them," the chief said, noting the district reduces fiscal strain on any single municipality while improving overall response. The committee moved to approve the updated agreement; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Next steps: staff will finalize the agreement documents and implement updated dispatch and mutual-aid procedures with participating municipalities.
