The borough engineer reviewed the ordinance language and said the code allows a contribution in lieu of construction on minor borough streets and that the mayor and council have the discretion to refund the fee in cases where the developer performs the work to the borough’s satisfaction.
Council members said they were agreeable in principle. The engineer and council asked that reimbursement be conditioned on the work being completed to the engineer’s satisfaction; the council said it would memorialize that agreement as a resolution at the next meeting.
Next steps: The engineer will inspect the completed work and, if acceptable, the council will prepare a resolution authorizing the reimbursement at the following meeting.
