Calvert City Council repeals outdated amusement, criminal-offense and land-use code chapters

On second reading the council adopted ordinances repealing Chapter 1.13 (amusements), Chapters 1.30–1.39 (criminal offenses) and Chapters 1.50–1.55 (land usage) of the Calvert City code after staff explained those sections are now covered by state law or other codes.
Calvert City Council voted on second readings and adopted a set of ordinances that repeal sections of the municipal code the staff described as outdated or redundant with state statutes and building codes.
The first ordinance (26‑01) repealed Chapter 1.13, relating to amusements; the city clerk/readings official read the ordinance text and the council took a roll-call vote. The council then considered ordinance 26‑02, repealing Chapters 1.30–1.39 (criminal offenses), which staff said are already covered under Kentucky Revised Statutes (title 50) and therefore are no longer necessary in the city code. On similar grounds the council also adopted ordinance 26‑03, which repeals Chapters 1.50–1.55 relating to land-usage because those provisions duplicate state building and residential codes or other local ordinances.
All three measures were approved on second reading following roll-call votes recorded by the clerk. Council members recorded affirmative votes during the meeting and each ordinance passed.
Council members said the repeals clean up the city code and align the municipal regulations with state law and current local practice. The ordinances will be codified after the required administrative steps following second reading.
