The HAUPPAUGE UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT Board of Education voted on several reorganization items at its May meeting, adopting a Code of Conduct for 2026 and approving the designation of Paul Tricenzo as district clerk for the 2627 school year.
Board chair (identified in the transcript as S3) opened a public hearing on the proposed code of conduct, received no comments and moved to adopt it; the motion passed unanimously. "It's approving it," the chair said while asking that wording referring to a "1st reading" be removed from the agenda and minutes.
The board also moved to designate Paul Tricenzo as district clerk for the 2627 school year; that motion was approved by the board.
During the consent-agenda review members removed specific items for separate consideration. The board approved the reorganizational consent items (items 8–44) with the removed items held out for separate votes. A separate motion to appoint Chris Dieso (item 50c1) failed when the vote was recorded as "3 0 2," and the chair asked the district clerk to place the appointment on the next agenda when the board is full.
Item 52a, which had been removed for discussion, was then brought back, seconded and approved with a recorded tally of 4–0–1, with Mr. Michaels noted as abstaining. The chair closed the consent agenda after that vote.
What happened: the board adopted a written code of conduct for 2026, approved a district clerk designation and cleared most consent items; a standalone personnel appointment failed and will be reconsidered at a future meeting when the full board is present.
Votes at a glance (as recorded in the meeting): - Designation of Paul Tricenzo as district clerk (item 5): approved (vote recorded as 5–0). - Adoption of Code of Conduct for 2026: approved (vote recorded as 5–0). - Adoption of minutes from 06/09/2026: approved (vote recorded as 5–0). - Appointment of Chris Dieso (item 50c1): failed (vote recorded as "3 0 2"). - Item 52a (removed and re-voted): approved (vote recorded as 4–0–1, Mr. Michaels abstaining).
The chair instructed the district clerk to re-list the failed appointment on the next agenda so the board may reconsider it when all members are present.
