City manager outlines timelines for Noma Drive, Comey Drive and other Diamondhead projects

"The Noma Drive... ribbon cutting was a wonderful event," John said, noting contractors still have a punch list of items to finish. He reported the Noma dredging project is complete and that a hydrographic survey will be finalized in the next few days before channel markers are installed to aid boaters.
John said the Comey Drive / Callepona Pond project is a 120-day contract with a current end date of June 10. He described a change order on the agenda to slightly reduce the overall contract price ("a little over $10,000") while extending time to account for weather-related delays; the change includes an adjusted anchor system for conduit to prevent buoyancy problems.
Other updates included the MDOT ramp work with an anticipated paving window by the end of the month, bridge deck pours underway in sections, completion of survey work for a proposed dog park, a 2025 paving preconstruction meeting scheduled for the coming Friday, and a Coomb Branch project with a notice to proceed set for June 16 and an expected completion in December.
Council questions were limited. Councilman Clark asked whether the city had formal discussions with the POA about a specific project; John said only informal conversations have occurred so far and no formal meeting has been scheduled.
