The Diamondhead City Council adopted a resolution honoring the life and public service of Ronald Lee Rex at its May 20 meeting and invited his family to receive a copy of the proclamation.
Mayor Nancy Debreo read the resolution and paid tribute to Rex’s role helping incorporate the city and serving on early councils. "Our deepest sympathy is with all of you today as we mourn the loss of a very influential and a servant of the residents of Diamond Head," Debreo said as she invited family members to the dais to receive the proclamation.
The resolution notes Rex was an original incorporator of the city in 2012, served on the inaugural city council and later as Ward 4 councilman, and contributed service through volunteering and community leadership. The council moved the resolution to the presentation agenda and approved it by roll call.
During the same portion of the meeting Mayor Debreo read a proclamation declaring May 17 through May 25, 2025, as National Safe Voting Week and thanked local groups promoting voter safety.
