The clerk told the board she audited chapter files and found roughly 30 properties with liens that referenced old deeds and approximately seven properties that lacked required liens; she and a staffer ("Marina from RG") will update the records, release old deeds and create current liens, and present documents for the board to sign.
"As part of that process, there were probably, like, around 30, properties that had liens that referenced old deeds, or I think there was maybe, like, 7 that didn't have any lien on them at all," the clerk said. The clerk asked the board to sign a number of those documents at the meeting so the updates can proceed and said she hopes to finish the cleanup before she begins maternity leave.
Board members also raised town property maintenance concerns. One committee member pointed to a dead tree on Brigham Street that "should be coming down," and discussed another tree near a dilapidated house that could impact electrical wires. The clerk said she would notify the appropriate town employee (Travis) to inspect and arrange removals as needed.
For scheduling, the clerk proposed and the board agreed to meet next on the third Wednesday in August — Aug. 19 — at 6 p.m. The clerk then announced the board would move into executive session to discuss statutory exemptions.
Action items recorded in the meeting included the clerk's plan to update liens and prepare documents for signatures, outreach to town staff to inspect trees identified for removal, and the board scheduling the next regular meeting. The transcript does not record formal roll-call votes on these administrative items.
