Board approves temporary closure of Jackson Library Aug. 10–14 for interior reorganization

The Amador County Board of Supervisors approved a request from library staff to temporarily close the Jackson Library from Aug. 10–14 to complete an interior reorganization and install new furniture purchased with grant funding.
Library staff (speaker 16) told the board that the closure would allow safe assembly of furniture, relocation of shelving and reconfiguration of the children’s area to make it more welcoming and accessible. "Closing for the week will allow staff to assemble any furniture, relocate shelves, the collections, do all of that shifting and moving around, and essentially reorganize the children's area safely and efficiently," the presenter said.
Supervisors discussed branch coverage and timing; staff said remaining branches would remain open and that the closure was planned after summer reading to minimize disruption. Supervisor Epperson moved to approve the temporary closing; Supervisor Brown seconded the motion, which carried 5–0.
The county will post notifications on social media and place signage at the branch; staff said telephone messages and web notices will be used to inform patrons.
