Waterloo board approves multiple personnel contracts, new hires and service agreements

The Waterloo Board of Education approved a package of personnel and service items during its July 14 meeting, including agreements for mentoring services, specialized services for visually impaired students and several personnel contracts tied to the 2026–27 school year.
Superintendent described the agreements under letter A: a Summit County Education Service Center mentorship arrangement for first-year speech-language-pathology clinicians, contracted services for students in alternate programs (speech/OT/PT) and an MOU to include a transportation dispatcher position in the OPC Local 573 classified bargaining unit. The board moved and approved those agreements.
Under letter C the board approved one-year limited contracts contingent on state eligibility criteria and introduced two new employees in attendance: Jackson, who will be the high school social studies teacher, and Kendall, who will serve as an intervention specialist. The superintendent welcomed the new hires and their families.
The board approved substitute contracts (letter E) with one recorded abstention (Miss Bennett) and approved auxiliary-service contracts and supplemental activity contracts (letters F and G) with the caveat that low-participation activities may be revisited.
Motions on these items were brought forward in sequence and recorded as passed on the meeting record. Several members voiced support and the superintendent noted contingencies related to state eligibility and future feasibility discussions for programs with low enrollment.
The actions take effect for the 2026–27 school year and are contingent on full compliance with state eligibility rules where noted.
