The Quincy Zoning Board of Appeals continued the application for 7 Wheaton Place to its September 22, 2026 meeting to allow the applicant time to revise plans and hold another neighborhood meeting.
Rob Fleming, attorney for the applicant, told the board the proposal seeks to convert or replace accessory structures at the rear of a 5,000‑square‑foot lot to add a living unit that would allow the applicant to house aging parents nearby. Fleming said the team had held a prior community meeting and collected neighbor support letters but requested additional time to rework plans to present a single‑family dwelling option instead of the currently proposed three‑story structure.
Board members repeatedly questioned the three‑story design and recommended alternatives, including adding an addition to the existing house or pursuing a single‑story accessory dwelling unit (900 sq ft). Fleming said keeping parking under the structure helps meet parking requirements and that the applicant will coordinate with Ward Councilor Ryan and hold a second neighborhood meeting. The board moved to continue CPA 2623 to Sept. 22, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. for the stated purposes; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Next steps: the applicant will submit revised plans and documentation of a neighborhood meeting before the continued hearing.
