Millinocket council approves warrants, licenses and appointments and authorizes cemetery funding
Summary
The council approved routine warrants and licenses, confirmed appointments and awarded several bids; it also approved a $32,000 transfer from unassigned funds for cemetery maintenance. A $656,595 bond for school air-quality improvements was considered separately and passed later in the meeting.
At its June 25 meeting, the Millinocket Town Council approved routine town and wastewater warrants, several licenses and appointments, and allocated funds for cemetery maintenance.
The council approved Order No. 155, the town warrant totaling $193,721.74, and Order No. 156, the wastewater warrant totaling $27,282.16. Both warrants were moved, seconded and passed without public objection.
Council also approved a victualer license for Maniac Snack Shack (Order No. 157), and appointed David Levette to the Planning Board to complete a term through December 2029 (Order No. 158). The council opened sealed bids for 143 Midway Road, received three offers and accepted the highest bid from Steven Jones for $14,200 (Order No. 159).
Separately, the council considered and approved Order No. 160, amended to specify a $32,000 transfer from the town's unassigned fund balance to cemetery maintenance. The motion to amend and approve the order passed during the meeting.
Later in the evening the council approved Order No. 161, authorizing $656,595 in general obligation bonds to finance indoor air-quality improvements at Granite Street Elementary School (see separate coverage).
The chair opened each item for brief council discussion and public comment before taking recorded motions. Where vote tallies were not read into the record the minutes show a passed motion; the bond ordinance was recorded as passing unanimously.
