Recreation Director Todd Digman (speaker 3) asked residents to attend multiple summer events: Concerts in the Park (Captain Fantastic, an Elton John tribute) at Patriot Park—s gazebo Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.; an Alzheimer—s walk at the Rivergate campus from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. before the concert; a youth fishing derby on Saturday, July 25 (registration 8:30 a.m., start 9 a.m.); and a family campout at Young Patriots Park with dinner, games and a movie ($45 per family, up to six people).
A neighborhood organizer (speaker 7) said the Rudy Community Neighborhood Watch will hold National Night Out on Aug. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Young Patriots Park with water slides, a bouncy house, face painting and participation by police and fire first responders.
Council members and staff offered a brief civic update: the administration reported a concept plan for Young Patriots Park stormwater management, active grant searches for parks and infrastructure, issuance of recent business licenses and Planning Commission public hearings on small zoning ordinance updates. Landfill staff (speaker 8) said final cover design for the landfill is planned for bid this fall with construction targeted for early 2027, routine monitoring is scheduled for August and the first test after a granular activated carbon change showed clear results; semiannual air compliance reports are due in September.
The meeting opened with a council condolence for the death of Mayor Swift—s grandson, Colin Swift, and observed a moment of silence. The council adjourned after business concluded.
