Michael Boras spoke briefly after the vote, describing 29 years in school and district leadership and saying he looked forward to returning to middle school leadership. "I'm looking forward to Monday and starting to get to know everybody," he said.
The board then approved a 50‑day interim school administrator contract for Jeff Gale, to provide on‑site support at Sandburg through October at a per‑diem rate of $525. Dr. Schumacher presented the recommendation; the board approved the contract by a 6–0 vote with one member absent.
Dr. Schumacher also recommended Joseph Gallagher as director of student services for the 2026–27 school year, noting more than 12 years of experience in special education and leadership, including recent roles at a charter high school in Boston. The board approved Gallagher’s appointment by voice vote, 6–0, with one member absent.
Finally, the board approved Madeline Geier as dean of students at York High School, to begin July 28, 2026, at an annual salary stated in the meeting as $95,000. The appointment passed 6–0, with one member absent.
