A motion to reappoint Bill Scribe as fire chief was made and seconded; the board approved the appointment and the chief stepped down so appointees could sign paperwork. The board then reviewed four applicants for planning‑board openings: after brief remarks the board appointed Andrew Plummer to a one‑year term and appointed Mike Hawks, Charles Spear and Mark Daniels to three‑year terms. Newly appointed members were told to complete required training and to set up town email accounts.
The board also approved payroll warrant number 61 and AP warrant number 62 after motions and seconds, and it approved meeting minutes for June 2 and the executive session of June 25. A motion to renew the code‑enforcement officer’s authorization to act through the town was moved, seconded and approved.
On infrastructure items, the board discussed a failed septic system near the gym and considered combining multiple replacement leach fields into one consolidated system. The CEO was authorized to arrange an inspection/design but the board voted to proceed with a single design/inspection rather than commissioning multiple designs at once after concerns about design expense.
The board also heard a presentation from the General Assistance administrator, Barry Jordan, who described GA duties, on‑call coverage and the department’s process for state reimbursement. Board members said GA appointment and staffing questions will be addressed further in executive session.
What’s next: Appointees will complete training and staff will return with operational details for the septic work and for implementing the pass policy adopted at this meeting.
