Roane County commission approves a slate of routine resolutions, reappointments and budget adjustments

The body confirmed three members of the environmental review board — Mary Ann Kulpovich, Susan Wentz and Don Coffey — for three-year terms and reappointed John Howe to the county board of public utilities (term to July 30, 2029). The commission also reappointed Jody Fraley to the Roane County Library Board through 06/30/2029.
Naming resolutions approved private-drive names including Chauncey Way, Fern Hall Way, Hamilton Meadows Way and McCollum Crossing. The commission accepted a public-health grant increase (approximately $22,900) and an animal-friendly grant (about $1,100) and recorded opioid-settlement fund spending to replace a totaled jail drug-counselor vehicle (line item listed as $50,000; a commissioner said the likely vehicle cost will be lower). Motions on these items carried by voice vote as recorded in the transcript.
The commission also authorized the county executive to execute a lease agreement for veterans’ office space after voting to amend the packet to include updated contract language. Separately, the board approved joining fire-truck antitrust litigation to pursue possible recovery related to allegedly inflated fire-truck prices.
Commissioners noted the county’s ongoing planning work and other initiatives, and invited public participation in upcoming workshops.
