Council refers cable-board spending review to finance committee

At the July 13 meeting, trustees voted to refer a review of the village's cable-board finances and services to the finance committee.
Staff presented a five-year snapshot showing about $318,000 spent and roughly $64,900 returned in revenue during the period reviewed. Council members discussed whether services such as meeting recording, streaming, storage and grant administration could be handled differently or consolidated with other infrastructure upgrades.
Trustees said they wanted a clearer accounting of grants, non-ledger services (recording and archived video), and the potential to align investments (for example, meeting-streaming infrastructure) rather than separately funding cable-board services and other remote-access upgrades.
The council motioned, seconded and passed a referral to the finance committee for an in-depth cost-benefit analysis and recommended a possible workshop or committee presentation with the cable representative to ensure all stakeholders were heard.
