Keaton said campuses should be ready for the Aug. 31 start date and noted ongoing construction across district buildings.
Keaton announced he had received a resignation from Ben Roser, who is relocating to Georgia to take a high-school athletic-director position. On budget matters, Keaton said the state budget includes a 2.5% increase — "250 per pupil that brings the amount up to 10,300" — but cautioned that the increase does not match inflation. He also reported large state shifts in categorical funding, citing an additional $630,000,000 taken out and a total shift "over 2,000,000,000," and said district and association staff are continuing to analyze impacts. Keaton said details on enrollment protections and mental-health funding remain pending and that the board will receive a fuller update when state figures stabilize.
Keaton closed by highlighting upcoming community events and saying the August meeting will include finalized schedules for open houses and other fall activities.
