Council presses for monthly budget reports and clearer website posting of minutes

Scottsville councilors on Tuesday pressed town staff for more frequent financial reporting and clearer website publication of committee minutes and planning documents.
Several council members said the town currently receives limited financial snapshots and asked for monthly “budget vs. actual” reports for every line item so the council can track spending and tax-collection performance more closely. One councilor moved that staff prepare such reports for the next regular meeting; staff said they would provide a simple monthly profit-and-loss statement and more detailed quarterly reviews.
Councilors also raised several website issues: missing or hard-to-find planning commission and ARB minutes, an emergency-services committee created in November that had not been published online, and limitations in the notification system. Staff said they would pin draft documents under the planning commission page, improve search visibility and collect screenshots of broken links to prioritize fixes.
Council directed staff to prepare monthly financial reports, to post drafts or minutes with clear labeling as draft when appropriate, and to return with proposed website improvements and a timeline for implementation.
