The board of education approved a $450,000 donation from the Lee and Koenig legacy fund to support expanded facilities and programming at Ross High School, a staff member said.
The staff member, speaking to "Fremont families" from Ross High School's production lab, said $200,000 of the gift will support an Industry 4.0 laboratory "which will include engineering, robotics, and automation," and that students will be able to earn industry credentials that could prepare them to work for manufacturing partners. "Students will have the opportunity to earn industry credentials and prepare themselves to be employed by our manufacturing partners in the future," the staff member said.
Another $200,000, the staff member said, will fund construction of a greenhouse directly outside the school's agricultural classroom to provide an active, hands-on learning environment for agricultural courses. An additional $50,000 will support upgrades to the school's performing arts center, a venue used for theatrical and musical student performances and district and community events.
The staff member also said the board approved additional staff who "will be joining us for the 2026-27 school year." The full board meeting recording is archived at fremontschools.net and on the district's YouTube channel, the message noted.
The announcement did not include a vote tally or the names of board members who voted. It also did not specify an implementation timeline for the projects or whether the donations come with conditions; those details were not provided in the message.
