Parks and Recreation provided initial cost figures: a vendor quotation of about $27 per flag per week (installation and maintenance) for the larger flags and an overall estimate of roughly $2,500–$3,000 to outfit the street for a period. Commissioners discussed funding options including council discretionary funds, city manager review, in‑kind support and community donations.
Commissioners agreed to research and return in September with exact pricing and a recommendation for how the flags would be purchased, installed and funded. Several commissioners also expressed that the city's visible participation in the anniversary would be meaningful during a time of national scrutiny on LGBTQ rights.
No formal budget appropriation occurred at the July meeting; staff and Parks will provide firm costs for the September meeting and the commission will consider next steps then.
