Dolores County commissioners on Nov. 3 set the maintenance-director starting salary at $33,000 and approved a one-time $1,000 salary-adjustment payment for county employees, to be prorated for staff hired partway through the year.
The chair said the maintenance-director salary should start at the lower end of an established pay range and that step increases would continue. Commissioners discussed prorating the $1,000 adjustment by hours worked in the first year; staff confirmed that employees who started earlier in the year will receive the full amount while those hired later will receive a prorated payment.
The motions were moved, seconded and approved by the board. Staff will apply the prorating method for partial-year employees and reflect the adjustments in the next payroll cycle and budget.
