Russell Library receives $50,000 state funds to sustain Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Brandy, the staff member who shared the news, said the funds arrived nearly a year after initial notice and credited Representative Brandon Chaffee for securing them: "We were expecting $50,000 from the state, thanks to representative Brandon Chaffee," she said. "Those funds will be used to continue funding for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free books to Middletown kids ages 0 to 5 each month delivered to their home." She added that another $50,000 is expected after July 1.
Brandy described the awards as "congressionally directed funds" in the meeting. Committee members expressed appreciation for the funding and noted that the program will be funded for at least another year.
The committee did not vote on program funding at the meeting; staff indicated the money had already been received and will be applied to the existing program.
