The Hyde Park Planning Board on July 15 recommended the zoning administrator issue sign permits for two applicants.
Debbie from QuickSigns presented a Frantoni Villas sign proposal and discussed lighting options; the board reiterated the town’s dark‑sky preference for downlighting or backlighting rather than uplighting. QuickSigns proposed adjustable gooseneck fixtures compatible with the town’s guidance. The board read and adopted a resolution recommending issuance of the sign permit (Resolution 2026‑20); the motion carried unanimously.
Riverwood Signs presented a replacement sign for S & P Liquors (same size, downlighting existing). The board reviewed the application and recommended the zoning administrator issue the permit (Resolution 2026‑19); that motion likewise carried unanimously.
Both sign recommendations were approved with the board emphasizing compliance with the town’s lighting and sign standards and that any uplighting would require a variance.
