Nags Head honors long‑service employees and names David Ryan employee of the year

At its Nov. 6 meeting the Nags Head Board of Commissioners recognized employees for milestone service anniversaries and presented departmental nominees for the Earl Murray Junior employee‑of‑the‑year award.
Public Services staff recognized Sue Cummings for five years of service, and the administration acknowledged Vicky Wright for 20 years as accounts payable specialist, citing her role in staff training, grants administration and interdepartmental coordination. Department heads presented nominees for the Earl Murray Junior award, including Faye Sims (admin services/payroll specialist), Chris Tremblay (planning), David Ryan (town engineer/public services), Tyson Wilde (police officer) and James Phillips (fire department engineer).
After presentations the board recessed to closed session to deliberate and choose the overall employee of the year. When the board returned to open session Mayor announced David Ryan as the town's employee of the year, noting examples of Ryan's on‑the‑ground work overseeing drainage improvements, beach‑access projects and the public services complex. Commissioners and staff offered congratulations and the mayor invited a photo.
