Committee approves conveyance of four Southside parcels to Community Housing Solutions

Nina Wells presented a resolution asking the committee to approve conveyance of four city-owned parcels in the Southside community to Community Housing Solutions of Guilford to continue infill affordable housing development.
Wells listed the addresses as 812 and 814 Mobile Street and 821 and 822 Hilltop Street, and said the packet includes parcel sizes and appraisals with values reported to range from $25,000 to $3,030,000. She said the conveyance ‘‘will facilitate affordable housing and serve a public purpose in accordance with the North Carolina general statute section 168-279.’’
A committee member asked whether buyers would have to be High Point residents; Wells replied, “The buyers do not have to be from High Point. The buyers can be from anyone just as long as they meet the income eligibility criteria.” After discussion the chairman moved to approve the resolution; the motion carried with no recorded opposition.
Next steps: the committee authorized the appropriate city official to execute the necessary conveyance documents as presented in the agenda packet.
