PROS schedules CIP work session, consultants retained through October

Wellington’s Parks & Recreation advisory board on July 15 confirmed a July 27 internal work session to assemble CIP priorities and asked staff to prepare an editable CIP worksheet the group can use during its meeting. Staff emphasized the urgency: the first draft of the CIP must be submitted to finance by Aug. 7 so finance can compile townwide figures.
Staff member said they were coordinating with consultant Barry Dunn and that the town had agreed to extend the consultant’s engagement through October to complete implementation tasks and a required implementation meeting. "They're just willing to continue the work that they signed on to do until October," staff said, and noted the extension was implemented via a signed amendment that stayed within the original contract limits.
The board also discussed a recent developer in‑lieu payment and how those funds can be used. Trustees said they had expected some in‑lieu money to be available for Viewpoint improvements; staff explained that payments made in lieu of a land dedication must be used for land purchases or similar purposes under the rules applied to such funds, which left some trustees frustrated about earlier representations.
Logistics items confirmed during the meeting included a park visit on Aug. 3 (starting at Sunrise/Eastside Park), keeping the Aug. 12 meeting on the calendar with Veterans Garden added to the agenda, and the July 27 work session at 6 p.m. Staff committed to schedule the consultant’s implementation meeting and to circulate dates for the internal work sessions in the coming days.
