Councilor Jackson said both petitions had positive recommendations from the planning and zoning board and asked the council to suspend rules for immediate consideration; the council approved both motions after roll-call votes.
The council also adopted Ordinance 017-ADM to revise the rules and regulations for the City of Trussville employee civil service board and Ordinance 018-ADM to adopt a revised salary administration guide and pay plan. City staff said the changes are clarifying edits and do not change existing pay rates. Mandy, the staff member who presented the documents, said the items had been released for employee comment and received no written objections before the public hearing.
On the consent agenda the council accepted Dwight Turnipseed’s resignation from the Industrial Development Authority, appointed Chris Leathers to succeed him (term ending 07/14/2029), and reappointed Chase Wright to a term ending 07/14/2032. The council also declared several citywide events, added a new job classification to the city’s civil service system, and approved a $15,000 local appropriation (20% match) for a $75,000 traffic signal optimization study intended to help the city qualify for additional grant funding.
All ordinance votes were recorded as affirmative during roll-call or by unanimous voice vote in the meeting. The council president called for the roll on multiple items and members answered in the affirmative; the clerk recorded the approvals.
