Airport officials say new hangars and FAA/FDOT projects are boosting revenue; superintendent promoted

On capital, staff said FDOT asked which fiscal year the city preferred to start a grant and the airport has 30% design plans for taxiway work; staff noted $150,000 of local matching obligations for a golf‑apron project with FDOT contributing about $1.2 million. Airport staff also flagged vehicle and equipment replacement in later years and said operating costs are largely similar to prior years.

Council members asked whether airport rents are competitive. Staff said recent lease rates were raised on new agreements and that the airport’s mix of rates is generally within the local market; staff noted the airport’s reserves are growing and that the city already transfers administrative contributions from the airport to the general fund.

No action was taken; staff will bring specific grant timing and matching options back to council in a future agenda item.
