At the June 9 meeting the Mayor and Board recognized departmental personnel and took a personnel action. Mayor Walter C. Morrison administered the oath of office to newly hired Police Officer Bobby Herron; the board also recognized Tyler Shelton, Senior Crew Leader in Public Works, as Employee of the Quarter for Q2 2026.
Later in the meeting the board entered closed session to determine the need for executive session and then voted to enter executive session to discuss personnel matters for the Public Works and Planning & Zoning departments. After deliberation, the board voted to terminate Public Works crew member Zharius Greenwood, effective immediately. The public announcement after executive session confirmed the termination and that a personnel matter involving Code Enforcement Officer Christian Hall was discussed with no formal action taken at that time.
The board conducted the personnel actions by recorded motions and voice votes consistent with the meeting minutes. The termination motion was moved by Alderman Jayce Powell and seconded by Alderman Chip Williams and carried by unanimous recorded vote.
