The Mount Hope Town Board voted July 16 to set the town’s inaugural fall festival for Sept. 18–20 after organizers told the board an amusement-ride vendor had become available.
“...we do have an amusement ride vendor,” Carrie told the board, saying the vendor’s requirements mean the event should run Friday through Sunday. Carrie said Friday would be a lower-key day with rides and vendors invited to participate but without music or larger entertainment.
Chair and Carrie spent substantial time clarifying that the fall festival is a new event created by the town at the request of community organizations and is not intended to replace the previous Otisville/Lions Club Country Fair. Chair said the town had not provided financial support for the earlier fair in the past 10–12 years and called the Lions Club’s arrangements with Cornell separate from town involvement. The board approved the festival dates on a voice vote.
Organizers said existing vendors who already signed up may attend the additional Friday; no entertainment additions were planned for that day. The board did not amend the festival plan at the meeting; staff were directed to proceed with logistics and vendor outreach.
